WMC support will not be coming due to it being discontinued, but instead will be adding support for live TV on Emby, Plex, etc.

This is disappointing. I use Windows Media Center on my home theater PC, because it is the ONLY media application that supports my cable TV card.

There are others now... I myself still use WMC with my cable card, but have been testing Emby and will be making the switch at some point this summer.

Not for the CETON InfiniTV cards. They only work with WMC, period.

I swapped my Ceton for a HDHomeRun Prime. Ceton seems to be more or less defunct.

I looked into the HomeRun Prime. Seems as if it's not quite ready for prime time yet, or at least its DVR function seems to require Windows Media Center, though they are working on a beta version that (reportedly) won't. I'd love to get a replacement for the Ceton, the darn thing is unreliable.

I'm with Kevin and Adam here. I still can't get my HUB to permanently delete Z-wave devices, and it doesn't talk to anything except Ecobee and the Gen 5 Z-stick. Nor have I managed to get it to talk to my smartphone outside my LAN, or send an email message. I have no idea if it has the CPU usage issue, but it probably does. I'm very dang close to jumping over to ISY.

Thank you Chris, I will look into deleting devices from the Aeotec stick and port forwarding on the router. The email issue does not appear to be due to either of your suggested causes. I use Verizon, which does not have two factor identification, and I have repeatedly verified that the smtp server name and port (465) are correct. Tried using a gmail address too, with similar results.

Still no remote access

Chris,

I set up a fixed IP address for the HUB, 198.168.1.200. I used the subnet mask 255.255.255.255. I set the DNS servers to the Public Google DNS, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I followed the instructions in the How To and set up a rule to forward Port 80 to CASTLEHUB at 192.168.1.200. My Verizon FIOS Gateway router's settings gives the choice of TCP, UDP, or Both. I tried it with the rule set to all three choices. I tried rebooting both the router and the HUB.

In all cases, when my phone is not connected to the home network, I get the "could not find the CastleOS running on any local machine" error page. I manually entered 198.168.1.200, but the app returns a 364 error, "no data received from server."

Do you have any further advice?

Yes to the typo in subnet mask. Thank you, Patrick, I think you've supplied the key to this. I was wondering how the heck the app could find my IP among all the millions of other 192.168.1.200 IPs out there!

Thank you, Patrick, that worked! Chris should update the How To to explain this, and also to recommend setting a static IP address for the CastleOS computer.

I have another problem...maybe. My About CastleOS says:

Version: 1.3.2212 (Merrimac)
Build date: 3/5/2016
.....
Current activation status: Trial Expired
Upgrade subscription: no subscription
Upgrade available: No
Get notified of Beta updates: Yes

Do I need to get another license key???

Definitely a question for Chris etc.
I assume since you are posting in the CastleHub forum you bought one of their devices?
- I would think it would come with a license.

It does indeed. And at one point I got a key, and entered it, and it showed as licensed. But this thing seems to have a bad habit of resetting itself. Last night I had to re-link my Ecobee 3 thermostat to it, for about the fourth time. Apparently hearing remotely from my phone was too much for it and it lost its little mind. Again.

Z-Wave Lock Issues

Not that I am an expert on this, but...
Battery powered devices like door locks will be easier to register if you have them close to the controller (like within 10 feet). Either do the link before you install the lock in the door (take the lock to the controller) or take the Z-stick to the lock and put it into link mode.

Z-wave devices are short range, but 50' seems like pretty poor range even so, unless you have a lot of stuff, especially metal stuff, in the way. Or, there might be something else that is transmitting at or near the Z-wave frequency and causing interference.

Every device in a Z-wave network acts like a repeater. So, if you have one device solidly in range of your controller, and then add another device that is in range of the first one, but outside of the controller's range, the signal will be passed along via the first device. From this, it should be obvious that the best way to set up your network is to start with the devices that are closest to the controller, and work outwards.

Contact Chris. He will send you an email with an incredibly complex random activation code. Don't lose it like I did...my HUB has forgotten that it is licensed and activated.

When I try to start CastleOS on my HUB, I get:

An error occured loading the CastleOS app. Please ensure the Core Service is running.

You may contact CastleOS for assistance at info@castleos.com.

You may also attempt to reload the app by clicking here.

When I click on the link, instead of the reload page, it goes to: http://castlehub/m/error.aspx?webexception

And nothing further happens.

Insufficient Disk Space for Windows Update

Microsoft said they were discontinuing support for my version of Windows 10, and encouraged me to install the latest version. But then they said there was insufficient disk space. My C: drive is on the Castle HUB SSD...22 GB are used, 6 GB are available. The update wants a minimum of 8 GB.

I'm trying compressing the drive to see if that clears enough space. If it doesn't...can I upgrade the SSD to a larger drive?
