Hi Chris, having problems with insteon hub connection, I D is ok but the address is not working, tried putting in the ":" after every 2 numbers or letters e.g 00:F1 B And so on.. And even put 00.F1.DB but keeps on saying it doesn't recognize it and gives me examples of how to type an address in... I'm lost, please help! Regards tony2sugars

Hey Tony, the ID is the insteon id, i.e. 1A.2B.3C. The address is the IP address of the hub on the network, i.e. 192.168.0.25.
Thanks, Chris

Hey Tony, you need the IP address of the INSTEON Hub on your local network. You can get this info from either the INSTEON app, or from your router.

Hi I have an Insteon Hub that has devices linked to it and it has worked fine with CastleOS. My question is, does it matter that my Insteon devices linked to the Hub instead of CastleOS?

My question is, does it matter that my Insteon devices linked to the Hub instead of CastleOS? Hi Tommy! CastleOS and the Insteon *app* are using the same PLM that's built into the Insteon Hub. So the links between the PLM and the INSTEON devices are shared/used by both apps. However, CastleOS and the INSTEON app do not talk to each other, so other than the device linking, any setting you change in one, does not affect the other. Thanks! -Chris

hello i wanted to know if the staples connect hub can also be used as a gateway for castle, and if yes would i be able to control zwave devices that are also attached to the staples connect hub? or rather would it work for a zwave gateway also or just for the insteon devices?

Hello! CastleOS can indeed control your Z-Wave devices, as well as INSTEON and other protocols. It does not connect to the Staples Hub, however, rather it replaces it. You're existing devices that connect to the Staples Hub will connect to CastleOS instead. Please let us know if you need more information!! Thanks, Chris

Thanks, Chris ok I guess what I am asking is how will castle communicate with my Zwave and insteon devices? Would I need to buy a zwave USB dongle and a insteon modem or the info gets passed from my staples connect hub to castle?

Correct, you'll need a USB adapter for whichever protocol you'd like to use, unless it's an IP protocol like Nest or WeMo. This is what you'd want for Z-Wave: http://www.amazon.com/Aeon-Labs-DSA02203-ZWUS-Z-Wave-Z-Stick/dp/B003MWQ30E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412819410&sr=8-1&keywords=zstick

It will be coming soon though!

While I am waiting for the PLM what about the TV connected led wireless light bulbs? Can castle control those and would they need the gateway part or could I just get the bulbs without the gateway? Thanks again
