Hey Ashley, thanks for the suggestions! All of those are on our list! We actually have Hue on hand and are starting development on it, so stay tuned!

Hi Chris,

Is Zigbee still on the list of prospective features of CastleOS?

Thank you,
Andrey

Yessir! We currently support many ZigBee devices through bridges like the Hue Bridge, and we'll be adding more ZigBee support after the new API launches.

Thanks!

Super! What Zigbee USB dongle or hub would you advice?

Right now the Philips Hue ZigBee bridge is supported, and we'll be adding support for USB ZigBee radios as well in the future.

Do you have a rough timeline on this? I feel that having 802.15.4 integration (whether it be Zigbee, Thread, or both) will be key.

ZigBee (and Thread) are huge in our plans, we should be fully supporting native ZigBee in a few months.

Any update on this? I am a former Smartthings user and like many of us have a mix of zigbee and zwave products as they are well supported. This is the only reason that prevents me from looking at CastleOS at this time.

We currently support the Hue ZigBee bridge, and will soon support the Osram Lightify ZigBee bridge as well, in a few days. We're also working on a native ZigBee integration to do away with the need for a bridge, that will come later this year.

OSRAM Lightify is fully supported now. We are also working on a native ZigBee implementation to avoid the need to use an external bridge, but for now the external bridges are supported.

This might be an inroad for seamless Echo integration using the soon-to-be-released Echo Plus which has a Zigbee hum integrated...

There is a new USB stick that has Z-Wave and ZigBee built in, and you can use both simultaneously from the same stick. We are working to integrate that now (the Z-Wave portion already is compatible). We also support a couple ZigBee gateways, Lightify and Hue.

Is this dual-protocol USB stick supported yet (I assume it is the Linear/Nortek HUSBZB)?

Not in this update, but that is the top of the list once I get back to driver development after 2.0 is out.
