Integrate Blockly for events/scenes

Blockly is a visual editor for programming, for those of us who don't understand C# very well this would be a great way to get at least some of that functionality.

Domoticz has implemented blockly and it works great: edited by joey52685 on 3/28/2015 edited by joey52685 on 3/30/2015 |

Thanks for the suggestion! We'll look into it. Is this something you'd like to use to take advantage of the custom scripting capability?
Yes exactly. I know it wouldn't be able to replace custom scripts altogether, but act more as a front end for those of us who don't use C# on a regular basis.
EDIT: Blockly is already capable of generating C# code FYI: https://github.com/cityindex/blockly-generator-csharp

Chris, Thank you for your help yesterday, After completely removing CastleOS along with the program data and re-installing the program I was able to get a far better result. I also got the Kinect working on one of my AIO desktops. however was unable to get the kinect utility to detect it on my ESXI guest despite passing the device through and it being fully detected in device manager. I'm not sure if this is a limitation with being a virtual operating system or something else. I have a mediacenter PC in the common area of the house which will probably work but I would prefer the common area be managed by a Kinect attached to the server. if you have any ideas as to the reason i was unsuccessful i'd love to her them. also, I can't get the thermostat to allow for levels to be set in themes. I can control temperature from the device tree but not scenes or voice commands. also, I need to figure out how to set the sensor classes up correctly as they are all just seen as generic sensors. any tips would be greatly appreciated. edited by eliashall on 4/28/2015
How are you passing the Kinect through, as a USB device or with DirectPath I/O? Is it connected to a client or the ESXi server directly?
I had issues with certain USB devices and ended up passing the entire USB hub through to the guest using DirectPath. See attached. edited by joey52685 on 4/28/2015 |

ImperiHome support

I would love to see the ImperiHome standard API added to CastleOS. ImperiHome has a great UI that I'm currently using with my Vera and they have an open API so that other systems can be supported. http://www.imperihome.com/apidoc/systemapi/
I'm not sure if this is a realistic request and I have no idea what the level of effort would be to implement something like this, but I just thought I'd throw it out there. |

- Even with polling set to 15 seconds, COS does not seem to recognize that I have manually turned on or off a switch. If I wait some amount of time it will eventually figure it out but its definitely not in 15 seconds, seems more like a few minutes. I can't easily refresh a page to see if the switches status has changed if I manually throw the light switch, a box pops up talking about data that needs to be resubmitted. If manually throw a switch, either on or off, COS has not updated the status of the switch and is now displaying the wrong status, saying the light is on when it is off or visa versa. If I then try to go and change the status of the light in COS, it does not work to control the light any longer, even if I try multiple on off cycles in succession. After some period of time when COS seems to figure out the actual status of the light it will work to control the light again. Basically if someone manually throws a switch before COS has recognized that that has happened, anything trying to control the light from COS will not work.
- I wish the COS page that shows my switch would update instantly when I manually throw a switch.
Well I can't answer all of your questions but I can tackle this one. This is not a limitation of Castle OS but rather the z-wave switch you bought. The GE switches do not support instant status updates, so they don't send out a notification when you tap the switch.
There are other z-wave switches that do support instant status updates, and all Insteon devices support this as well. When I tested Castle OS with Insteon there was no delay.
Here's a comparison of z-wave dimmers and their respective features: http://www.homeseer.com/compare-z-wave-dimming-wall-switches.html The list is not complete but it may help illustrate the different features available for z-wave, all of the newer z-wave plus devices should support instant status updates. edited by joey52685 on 8/13/2015 |

I have the Schlage z-wave deadbolt and I love it.
You'll also need USB dongle to control z-wave devices. edited by ccicchitelli on 9/8/2015 |
